Yes, we’re going to be in a position to provide our customers with custom sized, pre-assembled, pre- finished, real wood interior extension jambs and casings.  Imagine when you’re placing an order with our company… at the very same time you’re ordering a window; you’ll be able to order the interior extension jambs and casings for that window.

Exterior Window and Door Colors

Sunrise Windows is going to significantly expand our exterior color options by introducing painted exterior colors and also by introducing a custom paint color option… whatever color the consumer wants, we’ll be able to provide.  Sunrise Windows is in the process right now of setting up a new painting facility, and  expect to be “in production” in June.

Energy Star Most Efficient Window Program

Energy Star has created a Most Efficient Window Program. This Program identifies the best performing, most thermally efficient windows in the marketplace. Currently, of the over 700 North American manufacturers of windows, there are 24 window manufacturers that are listed on the Energy Star website as “Most Efficient Window” manufacturers, and Sunrise is obviously one of those!

Energy Star 2014

I know this letter is only supposed to be talking about things that we’re doing in 2013, but Energy Star is not stopping with their Most Efficient Window Program.  The next “thing” we’ll all be hearing about is Energy Star 2014.

What’s Energy Star 2014?  Today, approximately 75% of the windows that are manufactured in the United States are “Energy Star Approved.” The Department of Energy (the branch of the US Government that oversees the Energy Star programs) has determined that only about 25% of the windows that are produced in this country should actually be “Energy Star Approved”, and so, on January 1, 2014, the performance guidelines for Energy Star approval are going to increase significantly… that’s going to eliminate a lot of companies from being able to state that their windows are Energy Star Approved.

And my general sense is that many of the products that will qualify for the Energy Star 2014 guidelines will be triple glazed windows. Certainly, Sunrise Windows already have triple glazed windows that will qualify, but the goal is to provide our customers with a double pane product that exceeds Energy Star 2014 Guidelines that will cost less than the triple glazed windows.
